Surrealist Painting

Here’s my Surrealist project we did in class, I honestly am halfway satisfied with it. I find that my projects have been coming out sloppy, and I think it’s time I start taking more care in making sure they’re high quality projects. The objective was to make a Surrealist window display.

Example of Wit

Here’s a cute advertisement for a yarn shop. It’s so witty, because of the name of the shop, and the visual aid.

Example of Wit

Here’s a cute little vase filled with saw blades from Dewalt brand hand tools. My favourite part of this picture is the feminism this setup puts on such a masculine tool such as a saw.

Weekly Inspiration

This week for my inspiration, I chose Gandhi. Gandhi was an activist during the revolutionary era in India when the country was splitting with it’s colonial mother country, Great Britain. He used civil disobedience to boycott unfair laws like the salt marches against the salt taxes in India. After the revolution he was at the forefront of not supporting the partition of India and Pakistan. He was a beautiful man, and he did some beautiful things. I hope that one day I can reach the level of compassion he had for every soul that passed before him.

Weekly Inspiration

What inspires me the most when doing everyday tasks, or even planning an entire event that can change someone’s life… is the circle of life. The culmination of all your work, from thoughts in your head to a finished project. I can’t even compare the feeling of pure happiness I get when I’m part of this process.

Cubism Paintings

Here are three separate attempts at painting cubism art, I had a difficult time doing this project. Just the concept wasn’t clicking with me.

Weekly Inspiration

This week for my inspiration, I have chosen to divulge a current obsession I have.. collecting trash and making art from it. I have been doing it for a while now, and it’s become an obsession! Although a fun obsession.

1940s Colours

In the 1940s, these pastel paints were all the rave in these examples of colours.

1940s Furniture

When researching furniture in the 1940s, I came across many of these heavy looking wooden cabinets or buffets. So I figured that’s what possibly could’ve been popular during this time period.
